People who are readers of my webcomic Colour http://colour.comicgenesis.com/ or watch my dA account, will be familiar with this couple, Stanley and Darlene Warthogg. To sum up, they are a married couple set in a culture where lifestyle and stature of society is very primitive (men rule the families, women are the baby making slaves, sort of thing). If that wasn't enough, Stanley is a controlling and abusive person, which causes his wife and children much misery. The guy doesn't know meaning of the word "tenderness", which is one of many reasons why Darlene really dislikes when he couples with her (via consummation). Hence, her being pregnant, is her temporary escape from being forced to deal with it (hence, "hidden relief"). All in all, it's not a very happy situation for anyone :(
