In answer to the post about fertilization If there is no male with her then her eggs are unfertilized. Her species have to fertilize their eggs like externally frogs.

As the mentions of frogs came up there is a frog/toad who lays eggs onto it's own back, the skin then grows over the eggs to protect them. After a period of time the young hatch out the back of the female frog ... so it would be egg laying, then live birth.
